Message from the Editor

Finding the Tips is going to be a little different starting this week and I hope it helps you find the golf instruction you need more quickly.

Each edition of the newsletter will lead off with the instruction that I consider to be the best in the past week. You’ll get a brief description of the features of the tip of the week, as well as the link to the YouTube video.

After that, you’ll find links to YouTube instruction that deals with popular topics, such as distance, short game, iron play, and more.

The hope is that you can review the email faster and go directly to the links that are most likely to help you.

Let me know what you think. Just reply to this email and I’ll get your comments.

And now…. on with the show!

In this issue

How to start the downswing

For the second consecutive week, Alex Elliott Golf offers a great tip on how to start the downswing.

Finishing the backswing is one thing that vexes many golfers, and you can colour me vexed.

But if you manage to finish your backswing, how do you start your downswing. And having done that, what do you have to do to deliver the clubhead to the ball?

Alex wants us to move our centre of mass as far away from the target as possible in the backswing. To start the downswing, we apply pressure into the ground through our lead foot but keep our centre of mass behind the ball.

This allows us to swing the arms and the clubhead through the ball with freedom, space and speed.

Alex gives us two drills to practice and also shows us how we can bring this new power source to the golf course.
